It was an honor shooting photos at Kristine and Justin’s wedding in the Wichita Mountains this summer. It’s a short hour and a half drive from OKC, but it (almost) feels like you’re in Colorado. Mark and I arrived early, & decided to go on a quick drive up Mount Scott before heading to the wedding location.  If you find yourself in the Lawton, OK area, be sure to take that short drive, and then stop off in Meers, OK for a burger at ‘Meers Store and Restaurant.’ You’ll feel like a real live Okie.

The ceremony and reception was located in a field on private ranch land, with a mountain centered behind the ceremony area. Kristine’s dad had plans of flying his quadcopter/drone overhead during the ceremony, which would have looked beautiful, but unfortunately it crashed into the port-a-potties earlier in the day and was out of commission.

Kristine and Justin definitely had their priorities straight. They wanted a location that was beautiful and full of natural light (nothing is more ‘natural light’ than an outdoor wedding), but wanted a day they could remember as being all about their family and friends. They just wanted the ‘necessities’ as far as posed photos (although I may have forced them to do a couple extras), and the rest of the time was spent capturing unique and genuine moments between loved ones. They wanted to enjoy their wedding day and let the logistics take care of themselves. No rigid timeline, no stressing over when to be where ... just family and friends hanging out together for the day.

Loved it.

Thanks for having us out, Kristine and Justin. It should be everyone’s 'wedding day goal' to be as relaxed and happy as you two were.
